What Custom Order Statuses does

Custom Order Statuses for WooCommerce lets you match WooCommerce's order flow to how your shop really works. New statuses behave like the built-in ones: they appear in the order status dropdown, the orders list filters, bulk actions, My Account and reports, and they work with High-Performance Order Storage.

Custom Order Statuses features

Included with every licence

  • Up to 3 custom statuses.
  • Name, slug and badge colour for each.
  • "Counts as paid" so downloads stay available and orders count in reports.
  • "Change status to …" bulk action on the orders list.
  • Safe deletion: choose which status the orders move to. Customers are not emailed about the move, and each order gets a note.
  • Your statuses stay registered even if you deactivate Pro, so no order ever disappears.

Pro features

  • Unlimited custom statuses.
  • One-click quick action buttons on the orders list, e.g. "Mark as packed" on Processing orders.
  • A customer email for each status, with the order details, editable under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

Questions about Custom Order Statuses

Where do I see quick action buttons?

In the Actions column of the orders list. WooCommerce hides that column by default: open Screen Options at the top of the orders list and tick "Actions".

Can I rename a status?

Yes, change its name at any time. The slug is fixed once created because orders store it.

What happens to orders when I delete a status?

You choose a status to move them to before the status is removed. The move adds an order note and sends no emails.

Will my statuses survive deactivating the plugin?

Orders keep their status in the database, but WooCommerce only shows statuses that are registered, so keep the plugin active, or move orders to a built-in status first.
