What Free Shipping Bar does

Free Shipping Progress Bar for WooCommerce shows customers how close they are to free shipping and updates as the cart changes. "Add $12.00 more to get free shipping!" is the simplest nudge there is for a higher average order value. It reads the minimum order amount straight from your WooCommerce Free shipping method, so there is nothing to keep in sync, and it respects the shipping zone of the customer.

Free Shipping Bar features

Included with every licence

  • Threshold detected automatically from the Free shipping method in the customer's zone, or a fixed amount.
  • Shows on the cart page, checkout page and the mini cart widget. Works with the classic and the block cart and checkout.
  • Updates live on the block cart and checkout, and after classic cart updates, without a page reload.
  • Editable messages for in progress, unlocked, and empty cart, with {remaining}, {threshold}, {amount} and {percent} placeholders.
  • Coupon handling follows your Free shipping method's "ignore discounts" setting.
  • [fspb_free_shipping_bar] shortcode for any other place.

Pro features

  • Show on product pages, shop and category pages, and as a floating bar on every page.
  • Colours for the progress, completed state, track and text, and the bar height.

Why a free shipping bar raises average order value

Shoppers hate paying for shipping more than they mind paying for products. Tell them they are $12 short of free shipping and a surprising number go back for one more item, which is why a free shipping threshold set a little above your average order is the cheapest way to lift it. The bar does the telling, on every page where the cart is in view, and updates the moment the cart changes.

The message changes with the stage, and you write all three. Placeholders fill in the live numbers.

The three stages of the bar
StageDefault messagePlaceholders
Empty cartFree shipping on orders over {threshold}{threshold}
In progressAdd {remaining} more to get free shipping!{remaining}, {amount}, {threshold}, {percent}
UnlockedYou've unlocked free shipping!{amount}, {threshold}

Because the threshold is read from the Free shipping method in the customer's shipping zone, a store with a $50 threshold at home and $120 abroad shows each customer the right number, and the bar follows the method's "apply before coupon discount" setting so it never promises free shipping the checkout will not give.

Where the bar can appear

Turn each placement on or off in the settings. The shortcode goes anywhere a theme or page builder accepts one, including the header and the sidebar.

Questions about Free Shipping Bar

Where does the threshold come from?

From the "Minimum order amount" of the Free shipping method in the shipping zone that matches the customer's address. If there is none, nothing is shown. You can also set a fixed amount instead.

Does it count coupons?

It matches WooCommerce: if your Free shipping method has "Apply minimum order rule before coupon discount" enabled, coupons are ignored; otherwise the discounted subtotal counts.

Does it work with the block cart and checkout?

Yes, and it updates instantly when quantities change.

I have different thresholds in different shipping zones. Which one shows?

The one from the Free shipping method in the zone that matches the customer's shipping address, so a customer abroad sees the threshold you set for abroad. Until an address is known, WooCommerce's default customer location is used.

Can I put the bar in the header or the sidebar?

Yes. Put the [fspb_free_shipping_bar] shortcode in any widget, template part or page-builder block. Pro adds a floating bar fixed to the bottom of every page except checkout.

Can I change the colours?

The progress, completed, track and text colours and the bar height are Pro settings. The free version uses your theme's colours and can be styled with CSS.

What if a coupon gives free shipping?

The bar tracks the minimum order amount only. A coupon that grants free shipping on its own does not fill the bar, but the bar does follow the method's "apply minimum order rule before coupon discount" setting when it works out the subtotal.

Will it slow my store down?

No. It adds one small stylesheet and a few kilobytes of JavaScript on the pages where the bar shows, and nothing anywhere else.

Does it show in the Mini-Cart block?

The classic mini cart widget is supported. The Mini-Cart block renders in the browser from its own template and is not supported in this version.
